One of the requirement for skill migration was each applicant must obtain a positive skills assessment before we could proceed to lodge the skill migration visa application This is an evaluation of our qualifications to make sure that we are sufficiently qualified for our nominated occupation.
The skills assessment must be performed by the approved assessing body for our nominated skilled occupation. For details please visit Department of Immigration & Citizenship of Australia and look for "Australian Skills Recognition Information (ASRI) ", you will find your assessing body for your nominated skilled occupation.
My nominated skilled is related to Computer technology so my skilled assessment body is Australian Computer Society (ACS)
I receive positive result within 2 months my assessment form was submitted and this assessment will be valid for one year from the date of approval. So I must lodge my application within one year from the date of approval.
Documents I prepare for the assessment are as below ( all documents were Certified or notarised copies only, and are accompanied by certified English Language translations for Non English language documents ) :
- evidence of my identity and date of birth, such as a birth certificate or passport ( I submitted copies of my passport instead of birth certificate because it is in non English language, to save some translation cost and trouble )
- Verifiable independent evidence of completing all tertiary education or other courses such as academic award
- Degree/diploma/certificate stating the title of the award, name of the awarding institution, the year the degree/diploma/certificate was conferred and the grade achieved. I have submitted all my company sponsor courses which including technical courses and management courses.
- Statement of academic record (transcript)
- CV - I prepare a very details job description, including some technical terms and command normally use by my profession, and details projects that I have involved
- Employer reference letter printed on company letterhead with details as below ( I prepare the reference letter and pass it to my reporting manager for his signature as I know better what my job roles was )
- Name , position and contact details of the person making the statement
- details of the exact periods of the employment
- full and detailed description of the nature and content of my work, which I have include a few technical terms or command use .
- I also requested my company HR department to prepare a letter of evidence of my position and salary with the company
Make sure you keep another copies (or scan copies of the original colour documents) of all the above documents, you will need them when you lodge your application for skill migration visa.
